Thanks @MRegeard! I think this is on purpose: the default for Poisson statistics should be that each event is weighted with unity. If users have a different use case, they could go through .filll_by_coord() and make use of the weights argument if needed.

That true. However, if the case of an unbinned dataset it is not the case I think.

We had the use case yesterday where we tried the unbinned analysis prototype and calculated the weights of each events for a given spectral model. At some point we wanted to put the event in a map but we couldn't apply the calculated weights for each events.

Thanks, I think that's a fair use case. As the default behavior will remain the same I'm not opposed...
