Comment from Jonathan on importing SVGs into Figures:

I traced through how SVG images are
dealt with, and the final stage is always a bitmap. One interesting
tidbit is that first the SVG converter attempts to write to an SWTImage
and if that throws an exception, it tries to write to an AWTImage. One
other avenue I investigated was trying to substitute in a ScaledGraphics
object instead of an SWT or AWT graphics object, but it looks like this
would be tricky, and we would also get bitten by the
subclassFunctionMission() exception which ScaledGraphics would throw,
because a number of the Draw routines used in the conversion don't exist
in ScaledGraphics.

I don't think the SVG approach is completely ruled out, but I think it
would be tricky. So in the short term, I think we have to go with PNG.

As the SVG can only be loaded through Batik anyway (and thus turned into a PNG), we
are now using zoom-dependent PNGs which are dynamically swapped.
By the way: Also the wires are now scaling properly when zoomed.
