A small improvement is that 2.0.4 (current git) will contain the possibility to define a main() function in the snippet that may do everything it wants to. The function may return a QTextCursor to be set (or alter the existing cursor instead).

I would love to know more about the snippet API. I know documenting APIs is a pain, but if you could give me a simple working example, it could be enough to get me started.

What I would like is a one-click musica ficta button. I see a note on the score that I want to sharpen with musica ficta, I click on the note, which places the cursor to the left of the note. Pressing the shortcut key does two things:

Puts "\ficta " before the note
Transposes the note from c to cis

I can almost do this with the Replace function:

Find:
([a-g])
Replace:
\ficta \1is

But firstly it won’t deal with sharpening 'bes' properly, and secondly it ties up the Find-Replace interface. I want to look through a score and be able to do a few different functions with different keystrokes.

From this snippet I would learn how to get the next note token, how to transpose it, and how to add extra stuff to the start.

Thanks for the help with the \melisma \melismaEnd snippet and spanner command– it has saved me a lot of time! Happy New Year...
