Change unranked issues to rank 99 so they show up in a ranking report at the bottom. Otherwise, they show up on top.

in the same machine, the item should be same.
this issue only occur in the different system, right?
In my opinion, in the different system, if they have the same unpack utilities(7zip, unrar, unzip, etc), should be same number of items processed.

This is a testing issue. If ununpack runs on different machines it can return different numbers of items processed. It would be good to understand why this is so. But we might want to defer this to after 2.4.0

I have used the Redhat.tar file to run all the agents on rhel6/fedora18/fedora19/debian6/debian7/ubuntu1204/ubuntu1210/ubuntu1304/ubunt1310.

Found fedora18/fedora19/debian7/ubuntu1204/ubuntu1210/ubuntu1304/ubunt1310 both i386 and x86_64 have same result.

Yes, the point of the issue is to understand why different distros give us different results. We might not even be able to do anything about it, but we should understand why this is.

Need more time to narrow the test file to small scope, will defer to next release.

from fossology.

mcjaeger avatar mcjaeger commented on May 30, 2024

that sounds worth to investigate because the entire effort might be good if auditable. However, if it stays consistent on one platform, not a critical issue IMHO.

this appears to be important, we need more understanding even not touched since 2014. Any ideas which would be good candidates for extraction? maybe eclipse birt
