When some weird ass professor in a video game or movie creates a copy of his mind digitally, what happens to his conciousness, is it another conciousness which exists in parallel or do they merge and he can sense stuff as a human and a machine? If he can sense stuff as a machine, what and how does he feel?

Im a student and self-taught hobby programmer. Im currently automating everything i can around my house with Microncontrollers such as the ESP8266/32 and devices called Shelly and my Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 2B running Node-RED and Mosquitto as central "server's" to handle sensor-readings from the microcontrollers, host a web-interface to control them and direct the right commands to the right microcontrollers.
