Firstly, the Hydrus Web container does not talk to your Hydrus client. It is just a basic web server hosting the same static files as https://hydrus.app/. When you use Hydrus Web your browser directly connects to your Hydrus client API and thus the Hydrus API needs to be exposed to whichever device you're using Hydrus Web on. Additionally, Hydrus Web works best when it is hosted with valid HTTPS and when Hydrus Web is using HTTPS your Hydrus API needs to be too. Thus the Hydrus Web docker container was designed with the assumption that you would have a reverse proxy for both Hydrus Web and the Hydrus client API. I would recommend something like Caddy or Traefik for this purpose. Both can provide automatic HTTPS using Let's Encrypt.

If you are hosting this on a machine internal to your network, I had to use my-host-machine-ip for the hydrus client's URL, rather than hydrusclient. something like http://192.168.0.10:45869.
