t is only possible to save attachments of secure notes in the 'Download' folder of your homedir
Flatpak applications are sandboxed. The restriction to save attachements to xdg-download only is intended. You are free to move them somewhere else afterwards using you file browser of trust.

I know, but because it is possible to navigate in your local filesystem with the file chooser I thought there was a something for it implemented when explicitly downloading something.
They way it works now is very confusing, in fact it was my 10 year old son who brought it up, as he was completely lost in the file chooser. You don't get an error either when trying to use a different folder. Is it possible to implement a fixed file chooser instead (only to the Download folder)?

Indeed, that's a limitation for Electron apps.

He is likely not representative of the average user of this app though ;-)

That's the behavior for standard flatpak apps. Electron has limitations.
