Tabcompletion of cd in / makes you go home about fish-shell HOT 5 CLOSED

One idea of soution might be to look into $PWD and the fish-function prompt_pwd

fish & fishfish:

$ cd /
$ echo $PWD

$

fish:

$ cd /
$ pwd

$

fishfish:

$ cd /
$ pwd
/
$

It's the empty $PWD that couses everything.

If I change the function __fish_complete_cd to do set -l wd (pwd) instead of set -l wd $PWD, things will work. But things would probably be slower too...

The issue turned out to be that path_make_canonical() mishandles the path "/", returning an empty string instead. Fixed and added a test in this commit:

Yay, it works. With these bugs fixed, 16, 18 and this one. Fishfish is now better then fish for my daily usage ;)

No problem, i always liked fish. But I know it's been dead. So I'm happy to try to help with a new life of the fish :)
