Could you give your opinion on this. As its really hard to add the validation for the fields from the XSD schema to the library. I would says this could only be covered if we add the generel validation against the schema to validation of the XML output.

One one hand it's true. On the other hand, doing this instead of having validation in code takes away validation coverage from CSV export. Generally, I'm torn on this.

Perhaps we should decide on a case-by-case basis if having schema validation is enough, or whether we should have it in code to cover CSV as well.

In this particular case as far as I know, square brackets in the image URL doesn't cause problems with CSV export, even when using the data in search. There is only an issue with XML import failing because of schema validation issues. So here I'm definitely for adding general schema validation.

I think that was even the plan at some point, because an XSD validator was part of the dependencies back then, despite being unused.
