Yeah, I think you are right, and it is worth it to explain the "trash" directory and debugging Sharness tests in general. So I would welcome A) especially if the new section is called "Debugging", maybe just after "Command-line options".
About B) and C) I also agree it would be worth it to also have more examples, but I don't want to increase the size of the README.md too much (especially if we already do A), so I would favor adding a commented example in a new file maybe called "advanced_examples.md" or just "examples.md" in a new "Documentation" folder. The new file could then be referenced from README.md.
It would be nice also to move the README.git into the new "Documentation" folder.

Initially I created a page in the wiki to explain everything, including the trash directory About, but after thinking more about it I think the trash directory is a fundamental part of Sharness that must be explained right from the get-go, so I added an explanation to the README.
