The reason is that it means an Array has the same interface as an ObservableArray. There are some things (like some views) where you want to pass an array-like thing, but the view doesn't care whether it's a bog-standard Array or an O.ObservableArray or even an O.RemoteQuery; they all present the same interface.

This is also used to polyfill older browser support for ES5 array methods. The implementation is needed anyway for O.ObservableArray, O.LiveQuery, O.RemoteQuery etc. (all incorporate the O.Enumerable mixin), so you essentially get the polyfill for free.
