Request: run FPP with read-only file system about fpp HOT 7 CLOSED

This is something I'd like to explore after the next release. I've tossed around a few ideas, and the next release should move /tmp to a tmpfs filesystem if I get my TODO list done, but I'd like to explore options for making the system as stable as possible. I run a Logitech Media Server on a PogoPlug and I wanted the same power outage resiliency on that so I set it up read-only with some sync scripts that ran as needed.

That would be a great feature. I have used fpp for one month in an Christmas exhibition, and I did not get any trouble. As I was far from the exhibition, I have left some SD card copy in case of corruption. Having a power outage safe solution would be better. I would be happy to help if you need testing.

This is now possible using a script in the script repository. I'd like to merge that script into FPP v2.0 at least as an option for users.

It is the very last script on the Script Repository Browser page in the FPP ui. It's called: ConvertPiRootToReadOnly.sh

Closing this as FPP has changed so much, this may be harder to do, but it is also a lot more stable, so may be unnecessary after the changes in Raspbian. The current R/O script needs to be rewritten or deleted because it does not work with current FPP releases on the newer Raspbian.
