I'm not sure what you mean; multiple tabs?

I imagine he means multiple windows. Using that command turns off the status bar entirely, which means that you don't know what windows you have open. If I'm reading it correctly, he wants to remove the segments only and keep the original simple status bar.

Exactly what Meldanya said, just toggle the left and right scripts so we can just see the windows/tabs from tmux.

Yes, yes it does, maybe later I'll add the ability to toggle both, but since I'm the only one asking for the feature, I'll do it later. Thanks

You can just mod the tmux binding to make two calls to the script. I think
you just separate the commands with ;

I don't know why I thought that it wouldn't work. But it did, thank you. This is the line I added to my .tmux.conf

bind C-f run '~/dev/tmux-powerline/mute_statusbar.sh left && ~/dev/tmux-powerline/mute_statusbar.sh right'
