This is probably caused by some changes in python 3.9. Could you try installing with 3.8?

from nlpnet.

I'm not familiar with this type of error, but searching google some people suggested installing python via homebrew or upgrading it.

I'm currently with the same error, and i have python 3.8, installed by homebrew.

Have you tried generating the .c file with cython? That would explain it. I just tried installing nlpnet with python 3.9, installed via homebrew and it works fine.

Inside the nlpnet directory, run cython network.pyx (needs to install cython first with pip or conda), and it will generate the .c file. That file may have something specific to some OS versions.

Then, from the base directory, run python setup.py install.
