mayavi2: segfaults as soon as a module is loaded from object editor about mayavi HOT 8 CLOSED

Has there been any movement on this issue? I'm still experiencing it running Arch mayavi version 4.3.1-1.

The segfault reported in Debian seems to be in wxpython module. These days Mayavi also supports a qt4 backend so you could try to use that one. Assuming that you have the right dependencies:

export ETS_TOOLKIT=qt4
mayavi

Thank you! Setting ETS_TOOLKIT=qt4 and QT_API=pyqt has fixed the issue.

Just to provide another data point, issue still exists on linux mint 16 64 bit.

Python: 2.7.5+

It is of my understanding that mayavi cannot work on ubuntu with wx due to ABI incompatibilities. The default qt backend works. As a result, I think this bug can be archived as wontfix. @jdmarch do you have any comment?

Ubuntu 12 (VM, 64bit) + wxPython (2.8.10) + Mayavi 4.4.4 + VTK 6.3.0 does not cause the said problem for me.

When present: general wx issue, not mayavi-specific, AFAIK.
