Just found out, it still does it if the viewport is small enough (even on the demo page)

Hi, thank you for your kind words!
I cannot reproduce the behaviour you're describing on the newest version of the theme. This recent commit should make the portrait image scale on smaller viewports.
I did see it happening on the demo page on the theme site, though, so I guess the theme site hasn't updated to the latest version of this theme yet. Could you check whether this still happens with the newest version?
