OK here is an example of a file that causes the error:
https://github.com/ginty/ember-rails-issue-109
from ember-rails.
I saw this same error. For me it went away when I switched to the newest version directly out of Github (I think the version in Rubygems is not compatible with the latest Ember). From my Gemfile:
gem 'ember-rails', :git => 'https://github.com/emberjs/ember-rails.git'
from ember-rails.
I have had the same issue with less than 10 templates. While debugging brought it down to the application template and still had the problem. Updating ember rails to track the git repo solved the problem.

Yeah the 10 templates thing was a red herring, they were pre-compiled using a working version of ember-rails and were cached somewhere, then I upgraded ember/ember-rails and at that point everything worked fine until I added a new template at which point it bombed.
Good to know that latest fixes it, I guess this can be closed whenever a new version is release.
