I'm also a bit puzzled by this, can't see how to add a before hook to run the method just for request specs.

i have the same issue... here is a workaround. put this in your spec_helper.rb
config.before(:each) do
reset_mailer
end

same issue as well; easy to work around, but it took me a while to realize that was why my specs were failing.

@szymon-przybyl We don't currently have code that supports steak but we're definitely open to contributions for this.
I'm pretty sure it'd look like #180 but using the steak api.
