Hi!

This method of triggering was for testing purposes mostly.
If you want to use the plain URL without the Gitlab payload, then maybe Git plugin hook would do just fine, as explained here.

I guess the best way is to use the Gitlab payload fully, which means you can't test like this. You need to use an http client and send JSON / Gitlab payload, e.g. http://restclient.net/ if you're using Firefox.

In case you want the build now, but without the payload (there is a subtle difference between the build now and notify commit, as explained in the readme), then you'll have to wait for a fix to this issue.

Ah yes, if you specify a branch, only a commit to branch will trigger the build.
If you don't, you can use the parametrized setup, that way you'll get consistent branch builds.
