Because the object is not stored in the database yet.
Right now the bundle binds its logic to the prePersist and preUpdate doctrine events, which means that you'll not be able to get the object ID. To get more info about this you can read #14. There is an implementation of a IdNamer that you may want to check out at #26. I don't think that this PR will be merged soon because it have some drawbacks that I don't want to introduce, but if it feels good for you you can try it in you fork.
