Native 3D Collisions in GameMaker!
Setting up a 3D camera projection!
First person isn't the only point of view you can use in a game. Here are a few demonstrations about setting up third-person cameras!
Use skyboxes to make your game feel more alive!
You can use vertex buffers the same way you can regular buffers!
Has the weirdness with the "up" direction in my videos been bothering you? It's sure been bothering me!
For when you want to convert the position of something in 3D space to the screen space!
Bullet is a 3D collision detection system. It's pretty good!
Checking for lines intersecting with the collision world!
Filtering 3D collisions!
Going from screen to world space is a little more complicated than the other way around since a point in 2D space is represented by a ray in 3D rather than a single point, since this operation adds a dimension rather than removes one.
Pixel fog!
Creating vertex data to render in 3D
Time to get started writing lighting shaders for 3D games!
Another kind of 3D light!
So far, all of my shader code has been written in the vertex shader. However, with just a few extra steps you can also do it in the fragment shader - and since each fragment's light can be calculated individually. You get a higher degree of precision overall by doing this, and smooth shading in particular will look much better!
The third basic light type!
A simple shader to make a sprite always face the camera!
More with spot lights!
They're really just abstractions of sine and cosine.
Add some textures to make your 3D objects look nice!
