That’s a great answer @SeanKilleen and a good place to start. I wouldn’t go so far as to chuck those numbers out the window, but I also think we need to consider the individual wood chuck. Not all wood chucks could chuck wood at the same rate and there may be very good reasons why a wood chuck could chuck different amounts of wood.

I'm not a candidate, but do feel like it's important we understand this at a deeper level.

  • Why would a woodchuck chuck wood?
  • What can we do to empower more woodchucks to chuck wood?
  • Is chucking wood the real problem here?
  • Should woodchucks be doing something else - are they only chucking wood because that's what society expects of them?

@dotnet-foundation/candidates - what are your thoughts on this matter?

New York state wildlife expert Richard Thomas found that a woodchuck could (and does) chuck around 35 cubic feet of dirt in the course of digging a burrow. Thomas reasoned that if a woodchuck could chuck wood, he would chuck an amount equivalent to the weight of the dirt, or 700 pounds.

Given that we have some real questions now, I'm going to go ahead and close this. :)
