Following our discussion in docker/setup-buildx-action#232, it should work with bake too. This is the setup buildx action that sets the registry configuration. The bake or build-push actions are just invoking buildx the same way and do not have any incidence with the BuildKit config.
So like the previous issue can you try with a simple job:
test:
runs-on: ubuntu-latest
steps:
-
name: Create Dockerfile
run: |
cat > ./Dockerfile <<EOL
FROM centos:8.3.2011
EOL
-
name: Create Bake definition
run: |
cat > ./docker-bake.hcl <<EOL
target "default" {
context = "."
}
EOL
-
name: Set up Docker Buildx
uses: docker/setup-buildx-action@v2
with:
buildkitd-flags: --debug
config-inline: |
debug = true
[registry."docker.io"]
mirrors = ["dockerhub-remote.artifactory.company.int"]
-
name: Build
uses: docker/bake-action@v2
from bake-action.
You are totally right. I traced the problem to one specific runner at my organization which was behaving weirdly. With a fresh runner on Ubuntu, the problems disappeared. I don't know what the exact difference is (including the version numbers below, if they are of interest to anybody). Very sorry to have wasted your time!
Runner | Docker version | Buildx version |
---|---|---|
Unknown (fails) | v23.0.0 | v0.10.3 |
Ubuntu (works) | v20.10.21 | v0.10.4 |
