upon further investigation, I found that the problem did not exist on the Brave browser. But existed on Chrome and Firefox. (Though I hadn't saved any credentials in any of the tests)

So it turns out that the cookie problem doesn't have a negative impact on the application; while testing on multiple clients, I discovered that "Disqus credentials being saved across accounts" was the result of the individual browsers caching credentials. Meaning that the application doesn't globally save this information. So the problem is fairly minor and can be fixed by implementing logging out.

I'm stupid; the problem was solved when running the application in a virtual environment.
