Still an issue with 0.3.1, logged on to my device and did kill -9 on it and it
restarted and kept going.

This could be related to
http://code.google.com/p/android-vlc-remote/issues/detail?id=22. Looking at
the
logs, there is also something strange happening with the widget. How are you
doing all this monitoring?
With adb shell?

I'm doing the monitoring via adb shell. As it restarted after kill it must be
the
service doing this, but I don't use the widget.
Any chance of a "stop service onPause" option if the widget is disabled? I
really
don't need the background polling constantly when I'm not using the app anyway.

Just checked now, when it's not using a ton of cpu usage. Was going to check
if the
service was still running even though nothing needs it. Get about 2 of those
per
second.

Oh and to repeat myself, I don't use the widget, so I really dont see why
that's
running at all.

I'll push a new build to Android Market after I've fixed the CPU usage issue
related to large playlists.
