Should the currently fetched data be considered, or must new rows be fetched?
As a first feature, only the currently fetched data should be considered, no need to fetch the new rows.
Future enhancement: if i scroll down to bottom of the resultset so that next N rows are also fetched, then filter should automatically apply on new rows.

Hello @ahhmedbilal,

Have you considered using Edit -> Find Replace from the main menu?

at least this is not working for me, i am using enterprise edition 24.0.4.
actually the concept is bit different than the one you are showing.
upon searching, it should show only the searched rows, not all the rows.
in your result set, if i serch for "ja", then it should only show row 3 (firstname=Jane) and 1 (address=Jasper)

Thank you for clarifying. There are other ways to achieve your goal:

  • You can press Ctrl+F11 or Drop-Down Menu -> Filter by value to filter results by the column's value:
    image
  • Search -> DB Full-Text to search for a piece of text anywhere in the database. You can read more about it here: https://github.com/dbeaver/dbeaver/wiki/DB-Full-Text-Search
  • Directly type SQL in the filter field above the columns

Filtering the data as you type sounds interesting. But several things must be considered:

  • How should this feature be integrated with existing functionality?
  • Should the currently fetched data be considered, or must new rows be fetched?

If you want your proposal to be implemented, please react to your original message with "👍🏻".
