Let's go with the UK spelling, since more of you are in that part of the world, and it's the original usage of the language. I can live with discussing the colour of various aspects of the project while wearing trainers and dreaming of aeroplane rides.

I'm late to the party but I tend to look to others when considering standards and one thing to note is that Microsoft uses en-us as the default for their documentation. I know this applies for SQL Server, and this likely applies to Azure as well though I haven't confirmed.

While I would think the public view of events (by default) should be en-us, I think this repo and the internal discussions can be something different. I'm happy to go along with the group, but my view is most of the driving force I've seen behind this is EU/UK based.
