BTW,
If i first coerce the DF to a pandas DF, it works:
fastparquet.write(parquet_dir, X_df.compute(), file_scheme='hive',compression="SNAPPY")
But i would like to use the distributed dask version.

No, fastparquet only supports pandas. You should use the dask.dataframe to_parquet method if you want to do this in parallel.

Welll .... dask.dataframe to_parquet does not work either as I reported earlier :)
I shall wait for the fix on p2.7 since I can not upgrade to 3 now.

The fix on the dask side is coming through in dask/dask#2050 , so you should be rolling soon.
