If you are using IPython 2.4, just download the 2.x version of RISE: https://github.com/damianavila/RISE/releases/tag/2.x
and it will work.
To install it just follow this instructions: https://github.com/damianavila/RISE#manual-installation
I have tested RISE 2.X with IPython 2.4 and it is working OK. If RISE 2.x is not working well for you, let me know.
And to give you more context, currently RISE master is only working with IPython master (IPython 3.0 will be released at the end of this week) because maintaining dual compatibility is not as nice as I thought at the beginning... this is discussed in this issue: #54

o.k., thanks for the feedback. I was not aware that the current master is supposed to work only with ipyhon master.
Makes sense. Will try with the tagged 2.x version and if it works I'll close this issue.
