Ideas for possible implementation:

  • move spent tasks to a separate task pool that does not participate in dependency negotiation, so that its tasks are still available for interrogation.
  • log task output filenames, and provide a cylc command that parses the log for the requested output filenames and then opens them for viewing.

The advantage of logging task log URLs to the suite log, is that we could use (g)cylc to view old task logs even for suites that are not currently running.

Another idea: before spent task proxies are removed from the suite, they could dump all the information they hold to a new "task summary" file (probably with the usual "task log root" file path prefix).

Closed by #679 - cylc cat-log can now print task logs.
