Not planned for Cryptomator per se, but we will eventually switch to a vendor-independent encryption scheme that is open for standardization of different cipher options. See this discussion for details or if you just want to leave your upvote.

One way or the other, the decision will not be made solely on performance characteristics.

Side note: The speed advantage of chacha-based ciphers refers mostly to software implementations, but Cryptomator uses hardware AES. Furthermore, currently the bottleneck is not encryption throughput but rather I/O-related.

Side note 2: We use SIV (with CMAC), not GCM-SIV (with GHASH)
