Cannot connect to MySQL DB about docker-atlassian-jira-software HOT 3 CLOSED

Hi @tobakk, sorry about the delay.

The problem is that your container is not able to connect to the MySQL database and there can be a lot of reasons for this; however it is very much depending on your setup eg.

• What Docker version are you using
• How do you run the container, CLI command or Docker Compose
• Do you use swarm
• Do you use Docker Networks
• How do you run MySQL; in a container?
• etc..

There are a lot of reasons why you might not be able to connect to the MySQL database, but if you setup your infrastructure correctly it will be able. I run acceptance tests that tests against Postgres and MySQL external databases.

Closing this due to inactivity also because it is more Docker or MySQL support that you are seeking (your container cannot access you database sever which could either be MySQL configuration or you Docker setup)

@tobakk Late answer but I stumbled over the same problem and the solution is that a container has its own IP address when started/created. Do docker container inspect <container-id-or-name> for your MySQL container and look for IPAddress.
