Has this been resolved or does this still need to be addressed?

I can confirm this issue still exists. Using #joins instead of #includes appears to work around the problem.

includes tries to be smart and may break your statement into multiple queries (check your logs and I bet you'll see this is happening here). If an origin query gets broken up, the distance columns aren't there like they will be in a single query (as in join).

I'm not sure this is really a bug with acts_as_geocodable, as much as it is a gotcha of include

That makes good sense, thanks! #joins does the job so maybe this issue can be closed.
