This is an issue with OSX paths. ICU is needed by the charlock_holmes gem.
Please consult the docs here: https://github.com/brianmario/charlock_holmes
To install ICU with Homebrew:
brew install icu4c
Configure Bundler to always use the correct arguments when installing (the following is for brew installs of icu):
bundle config build.charlock_holmes --with-icu-dir=/usr/local/opt/icu4c
Using Gem to install directly without Bundler:
gem install charlock_holmes -- --with-icu-dir=/usr/local/opt/icu4c
I think for macports, it would be something like:
gem install charlock_holmes -- --with-icu-dir=/opt/local/

Glad that solved it! Yea, wouldn't be a bad idea to add it to the docs. I'm sure others will run into this problem.
