I think I found the issue: port defined in the Go code is 8888.

This example is fixed in a newer version of the book draft, but I don't think it was updated on the early release download site.
We actually updated the example to be ... -p 9999:8888 ...
because some folks already had processes running on 8080, and also thought it would be helpful to show that the host port can actually be different from the container port.
