First, the install script gave me a bunch of errors.

You caught the problem exactly. The shell script needs to be run with bash not sh. Typo. My bad!

vim-anywhere requires gconftool to function.

Right now, vim-anywhere only supports Gnome. This was mainly because someone with a Gnome install sent me a pull request with Gnome support. I'd love to support KDE as well, but I've never used it. I would gladly merge a pull request that detects KDE and has some custom logic for it.

Right now, the only places that should really need to be changed are install and uninstall. Is there something like gconftool for KDE that can be used in it's place?

On a side-note: this was written in vim :) I use it to edit about anything...
