That sounds like a nice long-term answer; it would have required a deeper understanding of parts of the code that I have yet to delve into, so I went for the more superficial fix.

Sure, not a criticism - I like the solution that gets the job done fast, and plan for the future with an improved solution. I decided to use index calculations as a way around the way the flow layout works and I'm not happy about that. If I hadn't done that, your success path would have been much simpler - have a section with zero cells, if possible, or remove the section and change a few simple calculations.
