To me this sounds like a different plugin.

It references this code: https://github.com/christoomey/vim-tmux-navigator/blob/master/plugin/tmux_navigator.vim#L49

The request is about making this configurable and using printf-style templating.

Yea I can see the customization points here but this would change this plugin from being vim-tmux-navigator to vim-3rd-party-navigator. This seems like it should be a separate fork.

I'm inclined to agree with @Keithbsmiley. Although the update seems simple, there is so much tmux specific behavior built into this that I wouldn't feel comfortable adding support for another window manager. Please do let us know if you fork as we can at least add a link to the readme. Closing now, but thanks for the input @rafi.

All I'm asking is a way to extend functionality.

Open/closed principle

“software entities … should be open for extension, but closed for modification.”

Hello @rafi. I understand and sympathize with the desire to avoid forking, but adding support for another window manager conceptually opens doors that I think are better left closed. I see that the change would be simple, but it adds another layer and invites additional window managers in. This plugin / configuration is already more complex than I would like, and I'm pretty focused on any future updates simplifying or removing things, rather than adding anything new, simple as it may be.

@rafi Is your i3-focus script available somewhere?
