A guess.

We use bounds.js in a React functional component and perform clear in a useEffect return function. Maybe somehow there is a race condition.

As nodes are cleared here

this.nodes = []

explicitly by our code
and then nothing is returned here
const data = this._findByNode(event.target)

as nodes are empty

Also seems odd to me that here

const data = this._findByNode(el) || {}

|| {} is returned if node is not found
and here
const data = this._findByNode(event.target)

the code behaves differently

Still no idea how it's related to specific chrome versions as we observe the bug only in them

from bounds.js.
