try using it without the diodes and using a 470k resistor on the vid pin
instead of the 330k. I have recently come across a tv that does not work with
the diodes and will adjust the recommended schematic accordingly. I have also
noticed with this same tv that the image will go very dim if I try to display
an image that is mostly white. However this TV is old and has some severe
issues outside of this so I am not sure how much value I should place the
findings I am having with it.

I have tested all suggestion without any success. I also tested on a new TV and
obtained the same results.
In more detail:
I can see the pretended text and symbols, the thin is that it is to dark
(barely seen the text).
