That does sound weird, what should it be? Did you try a different SIM? Do you have network coverage?

@E3V3A, in fact, in "Network Information" it shows my Provider under "Network Name", but strangely under "SIM Information" it doesn't show my "Opertator Name". Same is the case with the phone of one of my friends using an HTC Desire X. Just to make sure I'm not reporting a false positive: What does you "Operator Name" show? And what should be shown there (examples, please)?

E3V3A avatar E3V3A commented on September 23, 2024

It shows my operator name as it should, but it could be that perhaps this is an optional field in the SIM card... We need more studies. But it would make more sense, since some phones doesn't even need a physical SIM card...

@SecUpwN @E3V3A Yes the SIM section draws details stored on the SIM itself and mine also does not show the Operator name but displays all others, this one really depends on the provider and what they encode on the SIM. The previous issue I addressed for the user with the HTC device was caused by the phone number not being encoded on the SIM so I think it is a bit of a lucky dip when it comes to what the SIM section is going to display.

Various levels of error catching have been wrapped around the SIM section as this has caused some really weird issues but after the recent changes there should not be any further problems from these methods except of course for some blank details when not available on the SIM.

@xLaMbChOpSx Ok, this make sense, but just to verify, in case the operator is not shown in the field extracted from the SIM info, then I think it is important to show exactly "that". I.e. what is truly available on the SIM and not what we guess it should be. This means that if such (or any other) info is not available from the SIM card, we should show it as "< n / a >" or "-" or something else, and not just skip the field shown. I reopen this issue, since I cannot test this. But if you have already made the app like I describe above, please disregard, and re-close this issue.

@E3V3A, that is indeed a very good suggestion. @xLaMbChOpSx, please include above "N/A" method and close this Issue for good when implemented. And just to say it again: You're doing an awesome job!

@xLaMbChOpSx, sadly it still shows nothing, instead of "N/A". Also the version number didn't change..

@SecUpwN I have reattached the apk for the current 0.1.17 version which address this issue, please give it a test and close once confirmed.
