Hi,
I took a quick look and this appears to be a feature of the linux sandboxing that Chromium uses. I don't have time for a deeper delve into this right now as I'm on PTO for another week but I would suggest trying to pass the --no-sandbox option when you start Electron and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks that helped fix the problem. There was a bug fix in the latest alpha version of electron-builder which disables the sandbox for the snap version of the application. Sorry, the issue was the newer version of Electron I was using (through your package) which is why I thought it might have been your package.
