While one could have articulated this issue in a more friendly manner, I must agree that the example notes should rather be "real" (=> editable/deletable) notes. That way, new users can explore and learn first interactions simply by trial & error. The "fake notes" may indeed be more confusing than helpful.

Also, and this is even more important, the "fake notes" should only appear the first time the app is started / as long as no note has ever been created by the user. Or at least they should only happen in the main directory. Currently, whenever you create a new sub-directory, there will be "fake notes" in there, too. It's not a big problem, admittedly, but still it really annoys me.

Well, the fake note means Default notes.
Its an example of how your notes will look like after creation.

I would not call fake notes an example but a sceen-shot, an example would be if these fake notes were editable templates. An example would be a kind of readme, a manual which illustrates the capabilities of the program.

Maybe it would be better to make it more clear that the example notes go away after you create your first actual note. I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to delete them.
