Whats about an withe list of hosts where an auto connect is allowed instead of making an global flag for this? This would be more comfortable and we don't need detect if the user closed the window quicklyβ¦
"It would be great to create a properly-sized and -positioned window just for GhostText, to overlay the field (we'd need to pass coordinates from Chrome to ST)"
Maybe this is a little over complex, especially since we don't have a simple auto focus feature yet.

We still need to detect something like that, it might be that sometimes the user doesn't need SublimeText, so even if it opens up, they close it instantly. We don't want to reopen it. What we could do perhaps is opening ST automatically only the first time on the same field.
Whitelisting would be nice, yes. We could add a field in the options.html page.
The window feature does depend on fregante/GhostText/issues/19, but eventually it could be nice.

I think the requirements and possible issues with this make it a hard-to-implement and likely-annoying idea.
For example if we only connect the first time like I suggested, the user might wonder why it's not working again when used on sites like GitHub (that use the same textarea)
I suggest we archive this idea, the keyboard shortcut would make GT quick enough to enable.
