I would rather stick to simple core primitives. Your API also doesn't impose any restrictions on the needle, so it's not clear to me that SIMD can always be used anyway?
It seems like this belongs in a higher level crate.

That's not what I meant. The needle can be arbitrarily complex boolean formula.

If you mean that for very long condition we might not have enough registers, that is true.
