This seems to be something to do with how I'm running the buildbox-agent. I built a launchd plist file and it's running as a daemon, but it's dying as described. Running it by hand seems to work. I will investigate further.

Modified the plist a little and also started it as an agent for my ci user rather than a launch daemon. The agent seems to run ok, and does some builds, but is also restarting every do often after fetching a build. Not sure what's going on. Might be resource limits on tasks on the box; I'll investigate further.

Let me know how I can help!

Aside from the hanging artifact stuff, is this still happening @tarragon?

Adjusting the settings in the plist rectified this issue for me. I believe that OSX places restrictions on how processes under launchd control can fork, depending on which environment you put the process in. I put buildbox-agent into the "Interactive" environment, which means it runs with the same restrictions as someone who's physically using the machine, e.g. no restrictions.

@tarragon any chance you could share your launchd plist file as a gist? Thanks!

I think @tommeier has solved this in our latest version of https://github.com/buildbox/agent/blob/master/templates/launchd-for-0.2-agents.plist
