@buger Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't see how the failing command would ever succeed with the given data?

First question, is the space in the first level key " Name" intentional?
Second, is there some additional processing of the data happening before this command is run?

The data has a top level key "response". No second level keys match the query either. All instances of the key "name" contain plain strings, and all "pid" keys are nested under "photo" keys (instead of the reverse). In other words, I don't see the structure "name.pid.photo" anywhere.

If there's any way to clarify the issue, I'll jump in and have a look.
