Hmm... looking at some other examples, it looks like done(client)
may be the incorrect way to call done
. done()
or done(err)
seems correct.
When I change the code to the following, I get the expected result. So this may not be an issue after all.
'use strict';
const pg = require('pg');
const databasePool = new pg.Pool({
/* Other connection params here */
max: 2,
});
let requested = 0;
let retrieved = 0;
let returned = 0;
for (let i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
requested += 1;
console.log(`Requested ${i} (${requested}/${retrieved}/${returned})`);
databasePool.connect((err, client, done) => {
retrieved += 1;
console.log(`Retrieved ${i} (${requested}/${retrieved}/${returned})`);
if (err) {
returned += 1;
done(err);
// client.release();
console.log(`Returned ${i} (${requested}/${retrieved}/${returned})`);
return console.log(err);
}
client.query('select pg_sleep(1)', [], (err) => {
returned += 1;
done();
// client.release();
console.log(`Returned ${i} (${requested}/${retrieved}/${returned})`);
if (err) {
console.log(err);
}
});
});
}
