This way of applying a plugin to a project has limitations as well as implications. The notation is automatically documented on the relevant plugin portal page. I don't want to duplicate this information.

I am sure we could improve the general documentation though. Would you be interested in working on a pull request for that?

The plugin publishes to Maven Central by default. After uploading them you will have to go through a couple of other steps described on the Sonatype page. As a side note: Because this process is so tedious I actually prefer publishing to Bintray instead and then sync my artifacts to Maven Central from there.

Thanks for the info.. uploading to maven central seems to be pain when you're coming from ruby gems and nodejs npm dependency managers. I just started using gradle so I don't think i can be much of help with the docs but maybe I can add those things which I didn't seem to understand..

I'd actually recommend publishing to Bintray instead of Maven Central. So much easier.
