"Shell glob" handling differs from git about dotignore HOT 3 OPEN

Unfortunately the specific commit message on that is lost (@bmeck, can you shed any light?)

However, absolutely we should fix the behavior to match what git does. If there's not a test covering the isShellGlob behavior, and if we can't figure out why it's there, it shouldn't be here :-)

The rules for the patterns you can put in the .gitignore file are as follows:

• Blank lines or lines starting with # are ignored.
• Standard glob patterns work.
• You can end patterns with a forward slash (/) to specify a directory.
• You can negate a pattern by starting it with an exclamation point (!).
